"'Ow do you do? My name's Gavroche.
These are my people, here's my patch.
Not much to look at, nothing posh,
Nothing that you'd
call up to scratch.
This is my school, my high society,
Here in the slums of Saint Michel....
That's Eponine, she knows her way about,
Only a kid, but hard to scare.
Do we care? Not a cuss!
Long live us, long live us!"
(from Les Miserables -- "Look Down")
This is a belated birthday present for my friend (that's why it got moved to the front of my queue and temporarily became more important than homework, heheh). But anyway, these are my two favorite characters from Les Miserables--Eponine and Gavroche. Gotta love the street rats! I don't know if these two ever really associate in the play since I've only seen the 25th Anniversary Concert and it seems like they must have left out a lot of dialogue but I think they'd be good partners in crime.
I drew Eponine with Samantha Barks in mind, and Gavroche, well...he sort of just came out as if he wouldn't let me draw him any other way. So sassy.
JUST KIDDING. I HAVE LEARNED THINGS. Eponine and Gavroche are siblings. Cue torrent of feels.
Anyhow, hope you guys like it. I'm officially
going M.I.A. from dA until Christmas break now, but I had to get this done. It was fun! I even strangely enjoyed doing the background...probably because it wasn't super complicated and I got some good texture brushes. Done entirely in Photoshop, maybe around 8 hours.
So, helpful feedback is appreciated, whether you love it or hate it or somewhere in between. And PS, yes, the title is meant to be somewhat ironic.
Edit 12/13/12: gave Eponine a facelift....people probably can't tell the difference but anyway.
